Peru

Miss him
Three course meal
First step into the city
I've been waiting months to be able to post but I am finally here. It's been a long day but now am finally laying down with my new alpaca blanket with a slight altitude headache but loving it. Our first class flight was quite awesome and I'm pretty sure I'll never be able to fly economy ever again. We had fancy meals and champagne as long as we wanted. We were able to lay flat and had our own TVs. I watched Big Bang theory and some other shows which helped pass the time. When we got in we had to go through immigration which even In the middle of the night took a long time to get through. We then had to track down our bags, but I put bright orange hunter tape on them which made it easier to see. We had a driver to pick us up as planned and we got to the hotel at about 130 in the morning. The lady at the front desk tried to charge us for two nights because we checked in late, but managed to get it fixed in Spanish. We slept for a couple hours and then went right back to the airport to leave to Cusco. Lima by the way is a pretty gross city, so getting to cusco was much nicer. Our flight for that was delayed over an hour and at one point I had fallen asleep and was jolted awake and was convinced we had landed but we hadn't even left yet.                                                 It was a beautiful flight because we flew right through the Andes. For those who know me you'll appreciate hearing the fails I've had already including spilling my champagne all over me and the flight attendant, not knowing how to grab bread in the right way in first class, getting all excited that I had more money in my account than I thought and then realizing it was in soles.. And a few others I can't think of. I was called beautiful by a crazy looking old man which was funny. Claire and I have already bought several items most of which include some sort of alpaca. I got an alpaca blanket and jacket and some other things. We got empanadas and some tasty deserts from a cafe which was delicious. I'm not used to the smells of the city. There is so much food out in the streets that I wouldn't eat but smell so bad. There are also dogs everywhere. I did what I told myself I wouldn't do and pet one who was super sweet and rolled into his back. He just wanted a pat. I think I feel the altitude a little with a headache but not enough to stop me. We fell asleep at 5 this evening and woke up an hour later to it completely dark outside. I didn't even think about it being dark earlier because of it being winter. It's also pretty cold. For dinner we had chicken and French fries.      We are now just getting ready for bed in our decent hippiesh hostel. Tomorrow we head for moras and moray. Will post pictures if i can.

Monday

Had a really good weekend with family. Lynn, my mom and grandparents made it to Laramie Thursday evening and went to the Library Bar and Grill for dinner, which is always delicious. I had to work on Friday but Lynn took them around the University and ran random errands to pass the time. That night everyone came over for dinner and Shane grilled buffalo burgers which were delicious. Saturday Shane and I took them fishing and had some pretty good luck. We ended up going to Mizu Sushi for dinner. I hung out with my mom Saturday night at the hotel and then got ice cream at Dairy Queen for Shane and I. Sunday I met everyone at the hotel for an early breakfast and then my mom took off to drive back to Omaha. Grandma, Grandpa and I went out for lunch to Perkins, and then to the Library again for dinner. Shane came along to almost everything which made me happy. I then spent the remainder of my Sunday being lazy and taking the dogs to the park.

I am officially on my home stretch before I leave. It's going to be a busy week at that. I work today, and then pick up my friend Jessica's dog at boarding, and then plan on going to the gym with Trish. I also need to dye my hair tonight so that I don't have to worry about it while in Peru. I have to start actually packing this week as well. On Thursday after work I am taking a CPR refresher course that I really don't want to do but I might as well since work is offering it. Shane and I will head to Denver on Saturday and go to the Rockies game. The plan is to spend the night at Lynn's apartment and then have Shane drive me to the airport early on Sunday. My flight leaves around 10am so I know I will need to be there at least a few hours early. I'm so excited.

Next time I post, I will be in Peru. : )

Bored

Only ten more days until I leave. Finally feeling real. I've started packing stuff to see how well it will fit. My mom and her parents just got into Laramie about twenty minutes ago and are checking in at the hotel I booked for them. Only an hour and a half left at work and then I plan on meeting them over there. It's stormy outside so we probably won't be doing much outside at least tonight. I'm hoping to convince them to go eat dinner at the library. Hopefully Shane will be done with work on time and Lynn is supposed to get up here in a few hours as well.

Tomorrow I have to work all day, and then will probably hang at the hotel and go out for dinner again. The last two days at work have been super slow. I managed to work out the last three days and am definitely feeling it today. Trish and I tried a tabata style class last night and holy cow does it kick your butt. We have also been doing lunges up and down the hallways at work because it just hurts so good!

Not totally sure what plans are for this weekend. I know I planned on showing them around the University, and probably fishing. I am a bit sad because this is the last weekend I will have with Shane and the pups, but I am also so ready to be in Peru. It's weird thinking that once I leave, I won't be back until August. Half a year has passed already and it feels like nothing. I did hear good news that the Wifi at the house we will be staying at is great which means Skype and Facetime will work well. This makes me feel better. Until then.

Shane's Birthday

Today is my love's birthday, and he turned 28. Two days ago it was also Bounty's Birthday and he turned a whopping 5 years old. We had a very nice day. We slept in, and then went to the Prairie Rose to have breakfast. We then ran over to Murdoch's to look for fencing so Shane could build a dog run in the backyard. I have been really nervous to leave to Peru because Shane isn't able to come home during the day like I can to let the dogs out. But now, they have a large dog run with a dog house and water and water shelter so they can be outside all day when the weather is permitting. I also took Hunter to the vet to have his tail checked one more time before I leave. They did an X-Ray and said everything looked normal, but he is still having flare ups for some reason. They also noticed he hadn't lost weight like he should have so they tested his thyroid and alas, my problem puppy also has hypothyroidism. So now he is on thyroid meds every day and the vet said the weight should start falling off of him. She is also hoping it will help with his bad shedding and balding spots on his paws. Good thing I love my puppy, I even have pet insurance for him.

Peru is finally starting to feel real. I keep thinking how weird it will be to leave during the beginning of summer back to another winter, and then back in August. It's only 6 weeks but so much can happen during that time. Last weekend I went down to Littleton for the first time in a long time to visit family. Lynn and I hung out Friday night and we worked out in her living room. We slept in and then went to breakfast at Toast with Mike and Jennifer. That place has the absolute best iced chai's. We went back to her apartment and woke up her husband Nick so we could go over to my paternal Grandma's house where they were having a little get together. It was nice to see all of them again.

Later in the day my Grandma remembered that they had found something in their backyard that they wanted us to see. They have lived in the same house since my siblings and I were little. We would always go to their house on Easter and they would have a bunch of eggs with candy and money hidden in them both inside and outside the house. Apparently there was a big rain storm and an old Easter egg fell out of one of the bushes. It was very sentimental. We don't know how old it is but the pennies that were inside were dated 1998 and 2000, so it had to have been at least 15 years ago. I told my Grandma to keep it as a reminder of great times. We eventually went back to my sister's house and I took a short nap. We also walked around the lake. Nothing beats evenings in the summer in Littleton, the weather is just perfect. It isn't very far from Laramie but it still isn't the same. Sometimes I miss it down there, but my life is in Wyoming. It took a long time for it to feel that way, but now that it does I don't want that feeling to go away.

My little brother seems to be doing well up in Fargo. He is waiting to get a bonus at work so he can furnish his apartment. He has plenty to get along for a while. Although when I met my own boyfriend he didn't have a whole lot either but I'm pretty sure that is just a guy thing. I personally like furnishing my dwellings and making it feel super homey. Shane and I are waiting to hear on our offer for our house. We have started doing a lot of yard work and it already looks so much better. It is fun to think about all of the changes we want to make, which Shane will do because he has a lot of talents, especially when it comes to being a handy man.

Trish and I have still been working out several days a week. It's nice to have someone to go with, and nice to have a friend in town again. After graduating back in 2013 almost everyone I hung out with during college moved back to their home towns. I don't know about her, but I am super sore almost every time we work out. I started getting a touch of plantar fasciitis today, but I figure it's just from getting back to running again. I already feel better after two weeks and think it will help adjusting to Peru as well. Hopefully Claire and I can keep up working out down there as well.

I've found a new show to watch on Netflix which is Scandal. It's weird because the creator of Grey's Anatomy (my favorite show) also created this. I have probably seen upwards of ten lower key character's from Grey's on Scandal. It's kind of strange.  This next week my maternal Grandparent's will be here, and I'm thinking of places to take them. I'm thinking fishing and the territorial historical prison. Nothing much else I can think of today, but as usual I like to post some pictures.
